Technical Committee Meeting - Eenhana

Regions: Ohangwena
Modes: all
Kind of Event: technical and management committee meetings

The 4th Technical Committee Meeting was held at Monte Carlo Guesthouse in Eenhana on July 28th, 2016.

At the meeting, which was attended by representatives of Ministry of Works and Transport, Ministry of Finance,  various public sector officials, as well as many Town Council representatives, the draft of the Sustainable Transport Master Plan for Ohangwena, Omusati, Oshana and Oshikoto was presented.

The outcome of the previous phase of the project, which was completed last year, was a Scoping Study. This Scoping Study serves as the research background for the draft Master Plan. The Master Plan will include guidelines, suggestions and ideas in order to streamline all transportation related planning for the next 20 years. With help of the Transport Master Plan a sustainable transport system is possible.

The master plan will enable authorities to create an affordable, accessible, efficient, equitable and safe transport system in the long term. After the presentation by the T4P team leader, an interesting discussion about road safety and speed limits, as well as the process of traffic tickets ensued.

The vital discussions at the technical committee meetings are important for the outcome of the project as the Master Plan needs to show feasible and local solutions for the improvement of transport and road safety in the project region in order to create ownership of the measures.
