Second Project Phase Kicked Off!

With the third steering committee meeting on March 30, 2016 in Eehnana, the second and last phase of the Transport4People project has been officially  launched.

The meeting was officially commissioned with an opening address by The Honorable Uusiko Nghaamwa, Governor of the Ohangwena Region.

HE Christian Schlaga, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany,  Mr Willie Kauaria, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works and Transport, and Her Worship Julia Shikongo, Mayor of Eehnanawelcomed as well the participants to this Steering Committee.

As we have reported before in the news items concerning the previous meetings, the Steering Committee is of vital importance for T4P and decides upon the strategic direction of the project as well as performs oversight of the project.

The main topics of this get together were the approval of the Scoping Study Report and the decision on the continuation of the project on to the proceeding Phase 2, which is namely the Masterplan stage.

Mr Cedric Limbo, presented the methodology for the T4P Master Plan elaboration; Mr Bernard Semeria, from GOPA consultants Gmbh, Team Leader of this GIZ funded project, presented the possible priorities projects to be integrated in the Master Plan for the four northern regions.

Additional projects will still be added or can be dropped during the master plan development process.

The first draft of the T4P Master Plan is expected to be presented to the Steering Committee in next September and if the Steering Committee decides so, to the general public for comments. The final version of the Sustainable Transport Master Plan is planned to be available by the end of November 2016.
